The makers of Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari and any other browser should create a setting that hides the comments section of youtube videos and news articles. Because, I mean, sometimes I scroll down thinking there’s more article, but then I’m like, YAAAH!!! PEOPLE’S COMMENTS!! WHY DID I SCROLL DOWN?! WHYYYY?!?!
But then you may argue, well sometimes there are some really thoughtful comments and some healthy discourse and debate.
No. Not really.
And in the off-chance– just a sliver of a chance- that there might be some meaningful dialogue buried in the comments section of a creatively fun hip-hop video or a thoughtful op-ed piece about turkey farming, it’s seriously not worth having to scroll through, as fleeting as it may be, the filthy mass of gut-wrenching curse words, insults, poorly constructed arguments, grammatical errors, comma splices, gross misspellings of the simplest words, and more curse words.
